The collection consists of papers of G. Gunby Jordan from 1889-1928. The papers include correspondence and published reports about his business concerns such as the Columbus Railroad Company, Columbus Savings Bank, Perkins Hosiery Mills, Bibb Manufacturing, Columbus Manufacturing, Columbus Power Company, Eagle and Phenix Mills, and General Fire Extinguisher Company. Some material relates to his campaign for County Commission; his activities on the commission, especially the advocacy of paved roads (1920's); his work on the Railroad Commission of Georgia; and correspondence (1918-1923) between the Jordan family and French orphans whom the Jordans helped to support.
